Suoi Tranh is one of Phu Quoc’s easiest forest escapes. In the rainy season water tumbles over the rocks – blissfully cool on a hot day.
Suoi Tranh lies south-east of Duong Dong, about 20 minutes by car. The stream flows through forest and over rocks, forming small cool pools.
When is Suoi Tranh best?
In the rainy season (roughly June – October), when there is plenty of water. In the dry season it can almost dry up, leaving only small pools – think twice in February – April.
Tips
- There is an entrance fee; the path from the gate is a shaded forest walk.
- Wear shoes with good grip – wet rocks are very slippery; don’t swim where the current is strong.
- Avoid visiting in heavy rain, when the water can rise quickly.
- Take your rubbish out with you.
Prefer a wilder stream? Locals head to Suoi Da Ban – wide, with huge flat rocks, perfect for a picnic.
What to combine it with
Suoi Tranh fits a culture-and-nature day: Hidden Phu Quoc – A Full-Flavoured Day or the South Island heritage and culture tour.
